Any opinions on this alleged pedigree? It comes to me credited to a 1965 book called "The Byron Chronicle, A History of the Byron and Byrom Families, 1066-1800" by Mark Bennett Byron III.

Of the progenitor, Ralph de Burun, the author writes, "Ralph de Burun born in Normandy accompanied William the Conqueror to England or followed soon thereafter. There is no record of his marriage, his wife's name or date of death. The name of only one son is recorded. Ralph until his death was Lord of Horestan Castle in Derbyshire and as described earlier held other lands in the counties of Derby, Nottingham and Lancaster."

A distant descendant, Henry Byrum (1675-1717) is believed to have come to colonial Virginia as an indentured servant in 1696.

I know that I can count on someone on this list to tear this to bits (or maybe, possibly confirm it). Regardless, I appreciate your help.

You can find a little ore on parts of this family:

William Dugdale, Vis. of the County Palatine of Lancaster, 1664/5, Chetham Society Vol. LXXXIV, (1872), p 66. Joseph Gillow, Lord Burghley's Map of Lancashire in 1590, (Catholic Record Society, 1907), p 45. VCH Lancashire, (1907), Vol 3: 377-382.

The first part from Herbert Robertson, London, 1893/5, Stemmata Robertson, p. 204/5, is part of the ancestry of the Lords Byron. It goes:
1. Ralph
2. Hugh
3. Hugh
4. Sir Ralph married to Nichola de Verdun

Sir Ralph was father of Robert and Peter de Byron. They held Horestan Castle, Derbyshire and lands in Notts and Lancs. based on Stemmata Robertson.

I do not know if there was a third son Geoffrey......

There isn't the slightest bit of evidence that the Byrum family and the Bryon family are related

This article is right on..Ralph was the earliest record line I could find and I saw where Henry and his brother were Gunsmiths and indentured to pay their ride to America.

Roger was the husband of Nicola. Not Ralph. They did have a son named Geoffrey. Geoffrey had a son named Geoffrey de Byrom de Glazebrook.
