No, *everyone* is not descended from Edward III, particularly in any way
they can *prove* genealogically.

When pseudo-genealogists start to speculate rampantly and build fantasy on
top of fond hopes in a fragile and teetering tower of intersecting
hypotheses we get Word Salad of this kind:

> Even allowing the widest conceivable scope for hypocrisy on Hincmar's
> part, it is scarcely credible that he would have publicly contradicted
> his own recorded views by either omitting to mention even closer
> incest in a royal marriage than he roundly denounced in a more lowly
> couple around the same time. [Peter Stewart]

"I should have been clearer on this point - the floating 'either' in the
sentence should have been resolved..." [Peter Stewart]

Indeed.

Beware "The Floating Either" in either Genealogy or History.

It is a staple of both Genealogical & Historical Word Salad and Fraud.

Very useful additional information provided to the group by Olivier
Guionneau. Thank you very much.

Lee Marvin seems to have at least twelve [12] lines from Edward III and
perhaps there are more.

Marvin appears to be descended from at least four sons of Edward III:

Lionel of Antwerp Duke of Clarence
John of Gaunt Duke of Lancaster
Edmund of Langley Duke of York
Thomas of Woodstock Duke of Gloucester

What *matters* is the ability to trace line-by-line and
individual-by-individual the *precise relationship* of two individuals.

***Therefore, for example, to know that Oliver Cromwell 1st Lord Protector
of the Commonwealth of England, Scotland and Ireland and John Hampden Patrie
Pater were first cousins is critical to both Genealogy & History.***

Further, knowing that the American actor Lee Marvin was a first cousin, four
times removed of General Robert E. Lee and was aware of it as well is
critical to understanding his psychology, possible motives and actions in
carving out his role in the History of American Popular Culture.

It's also interesting genealogically and perhaps somewhat counter-intuitive
to see he was also related to George Washington and Thomas Jefferson --
considering some of the roles Marvin played.

***...And it is fascinating to realize Queen Elizabeth II and President
George Washington Founder of His Country, are second cousins, seven times
removed -- and tends to show how closely connected we Americans are indeed
to our former British overlords.***

Yes, especially when randy stable-hands, grooms, hall boys,
under-butlers, have their wicked ways with the lady of the house. One
day when DNA technologies are advanced, we'll learn some terrible
truths!

Indeed one wonders why there was a Revolution in 1776 given the
connectivity of the two breeds. Those slave-owning lawyers like
Washington and Others should have been offered Dukedoms to sate their
ambitions and leave the country under law & order!
All thru the 1800s the USA guzzled at the financial teats of Britain
getting loans & more loans to finance expansion. So much for
independence!
Their vaulting ambition helped inspire the French Revolution after
which all the monkeys descended from the trees and fucked us all over.
This was the greatest cataclysm since the extinction of the dinosaurs!

Some corrections are needed here:

"An interesting claim is made in many genealogies that one of Francis's daughters, Anne Constable, married Richard I Lee an important figure in the colony of Virginia,"

Also "Francis Constable's grandfather was Robert I Constable, and he was a yeoman, a minor land owner and small prosperous farmer"

The descent from Marmaduke Constable & Jane Conyers
apparently has no documentary evidence.
Therefore, many of the descents from Edward III are false.
