I read somewhere, possibly on this list that Guy de Montfort was an ancestor of
Elizabeth Woodville. Does anyone have the descent? I would imagine it is
through Jacquette de Luxemburg who was married first to John of Lancaster, Duke
of Bedford and second to Richard Woodville, future Earl Rivers.

Guy de Monfort d. ca 1291 = Margherita Aldobrandescha, dau. of
Aldobrandino Ct of Soano & Francesca di Baschi; parents of
\
Anastasia de Montfort Ctss of Nola = 1293 Orlando degli Orsini, d. 1326
\
Roberto degli Orsini-Nola d. 1350 = Sueva del Balzo (des Baux)
\
Niccolo degli Orsini-Nola, d. 1399 = Jeanne de Sabran-Ariano
\
Giustina degli Orsini-Nola = 1381 Francesco del Balzo, duke of Andria d. 1404
\
Margherita del Balzo d. 1469 = Pierre de Luxembourg, Ct of St-Pol d. 1433
\
Jacquette de Luxembourg d. 1472 = Richard Wydevile/Woodville E. Rivers d.1469
\
Elizabeth Woodville = (2) Edward IV, K. of England

Through the Sabran-Ariano line, Elizabeth Woodville also had a descent from
Adenulfo d'Aquino, son of Landulfo Ct of Aquino and a brother of St Thomas
Aquinas (d. 1274). It is not true, however, that this descent also involved
the marriage of Thomas d'Aquino, count of Acerra, to Margaret a bastard
daughter of Emperor Frederick II. Elizabeth Woodville in fact descended from
that marriage, but through an earlier marriage in the del Balzo-d'Andria
line, not the Orsini-Nola line.

So it is not true then that Elizabeth Woodville is descended from Guy de
Montfort? I am confused.

Sorry. Yes, she is descended from Guy de Montfort and, through a
different line, from the natural daughter of Emperor Frederick II.
