Hello,

I'm searching for the ancestry of Marguerite Capet, born c. 1631 in Basses,
Pyrennes, France. Marguerite is my ninth-great-grandmother. I'm curious to
know if there is any connection is between Marguerite and the Capetian
dynasty. Her parents were Anthony Capet (b. 1605) and Elizabeth De
Pomerani. Anthony's parents were supposedly Philip Capet and Margaret de
Flanders.

Marguerite married Amos Maupin (c. 1625-1680), and I am descended from her
through Gabriel Maupin (1664-1720). Gabriel and his wife Marie Hersent
moved to Holland to escape religious persecution in France. In 1700 they
embarked on the Nassau to Virginia.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Capet is not an unusual name in France even now and does not implyCapetian ascent. It was always the custom in southern France to denote female memebers of a family as 'de' - meaning of the family of , similar to the italian 'dei or de' ".
