According to Richmond Family Records, vol. 2, p. 108, sub Ambrose RICHMOND alias WEBB:
"By indenture dated 31 Oct. 44 Eliz 1602 between Wm. WEBB and John ESCOURTE of Tetbury and Edmund MASKELYNE of Pyrton [i.e. Purton, Wilts.] in consideration of a marriage to be had between Ambrose WEBB naturall son of the said William and Emma ESCOURTE one of the daughters of George ESCOURTE of Tetbury and of 100 marks, Wm. WEBB granted to John and Edmund in trust meadow and pasture ground in Lyddiard Millicent [i.e. Lydiard Millicent, Wilts.] called Hydes, of 20 acres and meadows or pasture ground called the Great or Further Lye, etc."
Ibid., p. 109,
"Ambrose [RICHMOND alias WEBB] married "Emma dau.of Geo. ESCOURT of Tetbury, Glou. [BOOK H, p. 196, Coll. of Arms]
This couple are my direct forebears, being the parents of William RICHMOND alias WEBB, of Battersea and Wilts., who married Mary, dau. of Alexander BYRSHETT (otherwise BYRCHETT, BURCHETT), of London, by his wife Elizabeth MITFORD. See pedigree of BYRCHETT of Kent.
William R als W and Mary BYRSHETT/BYRCHETT had issue, a daughter Anne RICHMOND alias WEBB who married first to Edmund WEBB, and then to EDWARD NOTT (who as his 2nd wife married his first wife's niece, another Anne Richmond alias WEBB!), Esq., of Minety, Wilts./Glos. and Braydon Forest, Purton, Wilts. Genealogics already contains this couple (Edward NOTT, Genealogics Person ID I00537088, and Anne or Anna Richmond alias Webb Person ID
I00537089), and from them my descent through their daughter Anna NOTT (Person ID I00537091) who married Mr John DEANE (Person ID
I00537090), of Doughton, Tetbury, attorney-at-law, who was buried at Pewsey, Wilts. (Sir Thomas PHILLIPPS's Wiltshire MIs) in 1715.
One interesting additional note concerns Edmund ESTCOURT's wife Praxeda/Praxid BUTTON, daughter of William BUTTON, of ..., Wilts.
She must be a daughter of one of the William BUTTON's of Alton Priors, Wilts., who gave rise to the extinct family of BUTTON baronets.
I already descend from William BUTTON (Person ID I00503884) and his wife Agnes 'Anne/Annis' CATER (d. 1528)(Person ID I00503885) daughter of John CATER, gent., of Letcombe Regis, Berks. (Person ID I00503886, duplicated under I00524008), and his wife, Margaret AUDLET (Person ID I00503887), dau. of John AUDLET of Woburn, Bucks., through my ancestress Praxed/Praxeda LAMBE, wife Thomas ERNLE (II), gent., of Brembridge manor, Dilton, Wilts., and Abingdon Court, Cricklade, Wilts. (d. 1639).
In addition, the above John CATER, gent., of Letcombe Regis, Berks., appears again in Genealogics without his wife Margaret AUDLET as father (I00524008) of my ancestress, Margery CATER (Person ID I00523995), wife of William HYDE, Esq., of Denchworth, Berks., whose daughter Mary HYDE (Person ID I00478166) married John ERNLE, and thereby became paternal grandmother and grandfather to Thomas ERNLE (II) who therefore, in marrying Praxeda LAMBE, married a kinswoman (by a shared CATER descent).
