to be invalid by Paul C. Reed. Please see the archives.

Joan Burley has been proved not to have been a daughter of John Burley &

with Littleton is entirely false. Joan was the daughter of William Burley

bench as a Judge of the Court of Common Pleas, 27 April 1466. Created a
Knight of the Bath on the admission of the Prince of Wales to that order,
18 April 1475. He is best remembered for his celebrated treatise on
English Law entitled 'Treatise on Tenures' which was probably written after

Unfortunately, Magna Carta Sureties does not give a specific citation
for this "fact". Farnham is a reliable source. Perhaps Paul Reed would
care to comment. Until a more concrete citation proves me wrong, I will
stand by Thomas as opposed to William.

Thomas, b. bef. 1285. MP for Worcs. 1315-16. Wife unknown. Other sources
give Julian de Somery.

Followed by two Thomases, who may only be one Thomas. If two, the latter
married Maud Quartermaine, widow of Bruley, dtr. of Thomas Quartermain

Thomas Westcote alias Heuster [deed of 1436], so as likely to be a
member of the Heuster family of Lichfield.

I stand with Ellen dtr. of Thomas.

This is why I so loath Burkes.
