Good Morning, all
Can anyone please tell me who the mother of Stephen, Count of Blois &
Chartres [b: abt.1045 d: 19 May 1102] is?
Ancestral Roots 137-22 has Alix de Crepi as the mother of Stephen
Count of Blois [husband of Adela de Normandy], where as Royalty for
Commoners [133-32] has one Gundrada [citing ES II:46], as his mother.
Although Stephen's father Thibaut III, had as his 1st wife Gersende du
Maine [RS 133-32, has divorced 1049].
So can anyone please tell me which of the 3 wives of Thibaut III,
Count of Blois & Chartres, was the mother of his son, Stephen de Blois??
Thank You, Sincerly Kevin in Wisconsin

Stephen Henry was born in 1046 and was the son of Gersendis of Maine.
Michel Bur *La formation du comté de Champagne v.950 - v,1150* (Nancy,
1977) pp.198, 475 gives this affiliation. The ES II:46 Tafel is in error in
that the line above 'Stephan auch Heinrich' should have 'I' instead of
'II'. The data given in the entries require it, though I have been unable
to find a listed correction in the subsequent volumes.

So Hugh , Count of Champage and Stephen are the sons of Gersende rather than
Gundrada? Who is the mother of Philippe and Eudes III?

With respect to your first remark/question: I said nothing about Hugh
(d.1126). The only (surviving) child by Gersendis was, apparently,
Stephen-Henry. Odo (d.1090/97) count of Troyes, Philip (d.1100) bishop of
Chalons-sur-Marne, and Hugh (d.1126) count of Troyes are listed by ES as
children of Adela/Alix the third wife.
