One of the most common links to the Lara family is through the marriages
of the daughters of Rodrigo Rodriguez de Lara into Silva and Giron.
While some authors have expressed doubt regarding the placement of this
Rodrigo Rodriguez as son of Rodrigo Gonzalez de Lara and Sancha Alfonso,
daughter of Alfonso VI, Salazar Acha has recently shown that the entire
reconstruction is faulty. Presenting a neer contemporary document he
showed that these women were not members of the Lara family at all, but
instead were daughters of Rodrigo Fernandez de Toroño. Needless to say,
this completely overturns their traditional ancestry. The following is
an AT for one of these daughters.

This is the noble tradtionally identified as the father of Jimena Muñoz,
mistress of Alfonso VI, but Canal showed this to be unlikely (see Teresa
AT). He is also usually identified as progenitor, through his son
Rodrigo Muñoz, of the Guzman family, but they appear to belong
elsewhere, and any issue of this Rodrigo is unknown.

The mother of Romano is unknown. He is only known from Salazar's
material, which cals him brother of Alfonso V. He could not be son of
Velasquita, who had a sole daughter Christina (#199). Vermudo had one
known bastard, Ordoño, the father of Jimena named above (see #50), and
so there is no reason to think Romano had to be legitimate.

Rodrigo Romaniz was nephew of the rebel Suaro Gundemariz. He was (in
all probability) brother of Piniolo Gundemariz of the Cid AT.
