In a vain attempt to identify Julius Freke, I happened upon a correction to

https://books.google.com/books?id=4wHEVdBMIL4C&pg=PA96#v=onepage&q&f=false

Where they state that Sir George Hastings married Alice Greke (sic) daughter of Sir Thomas Greke (sic)

George actually married Alice FREKE, daughter of

Thomas /Freke/ of Iwerne Courtney alias Shroton, co Dorset; Knt; MP Dorset; Ho born 27 Sep 1563 Blandford; first son
by his wife
Elizabeth /Taylor/ born 13 Sep 1567 (I dont know where)
widow of Francis /Smythe/ of London; mercer "Second son" (so said in 1568)

The eldest daughter of Alice Freke and George Hastings was that Frances Hastings who m John Roy of London, merchant.

I take this document to be evidence that she had died, and now he was suing, among others, what I take to be her uncles (of that same name) Robert Freke and Thomas Freke. Probably for some inheritence for his children.

Evidently (from perused sources) it was known that Dorothy, second daughter of Alice (Freke) Hastings had married some Doddington, without knowing his forename. I here resurrect it Christopher Doddington

It has been declared that the three sons of George Hastings and Alice Freke: George, Edward, John... all died s.p. so I was a bit put off when John Roy was suing some widow Elizabeth and I didn't know who she was.

It turns out admin was granted to Elizabeth in 1658 "widow, relict of JOHN Hastings of Woodlands" so there you go

I wonder if this might not be that same Elizabeth Clarke, who turned around and married her, now seen, in-law John Freke of Boston ?

OK no, I now see that admin on the estate of Elizabeth (Clarke) Hastings was granted in 1667 so they could not be the same person, as the other Elizabeth was living long after this.

This correction to

https://books.google.com/books?id=YUtNAQAAMAAJ&pg=PA552#v=onepage&q&f=true

might already have made it into new versions

However if not, let me be the first to state that

Robert /Freke/ of Iwerne Courtney; Teller of the Excheque 1571-92; esq
adult by 1550
bur 24 Oct 1592 Iwerne

had *four* living sons

The one missing from this source being found as

https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/0db40dab-5c37-4fd0-9927-20a54f36aef4

Robert /Freke/ of Estham Crewkerne Somerset
SECOND son

Therefore using the other dates from Burke
we can say that Robert this second son was born exactly 1564/1569
