1. Page 562 says that Helen Longford, wife of Sir Henry Pierrepont,
was daughter of Sir Nicholas Longford (d. 1415). I concluded long ago
that Helen was sister of this Sir Nicholas and daughter of Sir Nicholas
Longford (c. 1351-1401) and Margaret Sulney. I understand that Rosie
Bevan's article in the current Foundations, which I have not yet seen,
confirms and gives evidence for the latter version.

2. Page 515 says that Robert Cressett married Christian Stapleton and
had son Thomas Cressett, esq., will 1520, who married Jane Corbet, and
that their son Richard Corbet married Jane Wrottesley.

This is wrong in several respects:

a. Robert Cressett's wife was Christian, "the daughter of
Margaret
the daughter and fourth heir of John Stepulton." Trans. Shropshire Arch.
and Nat. His. Soc. 4S 6:215. Christian's own surname appears to be
unknown.

b. The published pedigrees are wrong in making Thomas Cressett
who married Jane Corbet the same man who made his will in 1520. Jane
(Corbet) Cressett married (2) John Twynyho prior to Aug. 12, 1464.
George
Morris, Shropshire Genealogies 4:450. Therefore Jane's first husband,
Thomas
Cressett, was dead by that date. Thomas Cressett of the 1520 will was
the
son of Thomas and Jane. It is true that Robert Cressett's will, proved
1490, is
said to have named his son Thomas as executor. This must be a mistake
for
grandson. We have only the act book entry; the will itself has not
survived.
Index Library, Calendar of Probate and Administration Acts . . . in the
Court
Books of the Bishop of Hereford (1989) p. 128.

c. The wife of Thomas Cressett (will 1520) was named Elinora; as
Cressett's widow she obtained a dispensation in 1522 to marry Sir John
Lingen.
Register of Bishop Charles Bothe of Hereford, Canterbury & York Soc.
28:349.
She appears to have been the daughter and heiress of Thomas Milewater,
esq.,
of Stoke Edith, Herefordshire. Morris 4:315, 321; CPR 1467-1477 p. 390.
