Hello,
Is someone has any informations, source or reference on de Jorz (or de Jort)
family?
Apparently, de Jort appears in the William 's companions list.
The Domesday Book shows that in 1086 Wymeswold was divided into four parts.
The chief landowner was Hugh de Grantemesnil, the others being Durant Malet,
and Roger de Busli, while the land of King's servants was held by Robert de
Jorz.
Also Burton Joyce village is linked to Robert de JORT. He was Sheriff of
Nottingham in 1331.

Transactions of the leicestershire Archeological and Historical Society N°17
has some informations about JORZ (de) Family. Which one?
Also, in the leicester university medieval database, we can find de JORZ
persons
http://www.le.ac.uk/el/pot/intro/intro3a.html#mainlist in loughborough leics
14-16th centuries. But the reference symbols are not that clear.

In France (Normandy) the JORT (de) Family appears since 14th century in Pays
d'auge
(Crèvecoeur en Auge sectors) until the 19th century and of course I would
like to clarify the link with the English branch.
I have documents that track their genealogy back to the 10 th century.
They indicates that JORT is linked to Neel de ST Sauveur. This is what I
would like to verify also.
Thanks.
Jack.

I saw also Thomas of Jorz (around 1250-1300)Cardinal and advisor of Edward I
King of England.
Do you think is there a link with Jorz Family at that time?
