Hello All,
Much attention has been paid to the Soothill (or Sotehill)
pedigree, but I have seen to date little documentation as to
that of Fulnetby of Fulnetby. This family has apparently
received little attention to date, involving the ancestry of
the emigrant William Farrar; however, as the descent (via Lacy
of Brearley, Lacy of London and Lowe of London) has recently
been found to be ancestral to the late Queen Mother (via
Cavendish), perhaps further research will occur in the near
future.
The pedigree of Fulnetby (as laid out in Maddison's
Lincolnshire pedigrees, and a portion of which appears in
the pedigree of Cely) is short of documentation. I have
found some references to a few individuals, most especially
Sir Thomas de Fulnetby, one time sheriff of Lincolnshire and
and (2nd) husband of Elizabeth Paynell, co-heiress of Drax
together with her sister Margery (wife of John Poucher of
Drax). The following pedigree provides what little
additional documentation I have found to date, and further
places Elizabeth Fulnetby, wife of Sir Gerard Soothill of
Redbourne, as a daughter of John Fulnetby and his wife Jane
(Johanna) Towers: I have seen Elizabeth placed as a
granddaughter of this John Fulnetby, but there was evidently
a double marriage of the next John Fulnetby and a daughter of
(Sir) Gerard Soothill which would make this added generation
somewhat hard to explain.
Should anyone have further documentation, comment or
criticism, that would be welcome as always.
Cheers,
John *
