Wait a minute. This isn't the Connecticut William and Walter Gaylord is
it. If so, we need to have a talk here about your derivation of the
immigrant from Nicholas.

That was the gist of my message on this thread earlier. The point is
that there were several Gaylord families in late 16th-century Somerset,
and the Pitminster family isn't necessarily connected to the Crewkerne
family (i.e., William, who went to Windsor, CT). I can't cite the NEHGR
article, but Janis would be well advised to look it up.

So William of CT was born about 1585, and could not possibly be the son
of Nicholas, who died in 1546.

First I have heard of this SEVENOAK connection. From whence hailed John
Sevenoak?

My notes state that Nicholas (son of Nicholas), whose will was dated 25
March and proved 8 Apr 1546, married Joan NEWMAN of Brixton, England (who
survived him and m., secondly, Giles Alvyn of Pitminister).

If the SEVENOAKS are for real, I'd appreciate a reference and another
factual tidbit or two.

My own line proceeds via Hugh, son of Nicholas and Joan (Newman). Hugh
fathered Alice, who married Richard Treat.

Richard and Alice's daughter Sarah Treat married immigrant ancestor Mathew
Camfield of my direct male line. From thence, I have tons of info for any
Camfield lurkers who might be out there. (If you frivolously spell Mathew's
surname CANFIELD, I'd as soon you did not respond, thank you kindly.)
