It seems that, according to Burke's 1938 page 1031, Duncan Forbes was a
brother of William, 3rd Lord Forbes and not his son. This means, of course,
that this line is correct, except that it is one generation shorter.
I still hope someone else can secure this link further.

Duncan Forbes of Corsindae was a son of James 2nd Lord Forbes and
Gilles or Egidia, second daughter of William Keith, 1st Earl Marischal
and they had:
1. William 3rd Lord
2. Duncan, married Christian Mercer of Balliel, widow of Gilbert Skene
of Skene. He was ancestor of Corsindae and Monymusk.
3. Patrick of Corse, ancestor of Craigievar and Earls of Granard.
4. Alexander, living August 14th, 1473
5. Egidia, married Malcolm Forbes of Tolquhon.
The source of this information is from a book "The House of Forbes"
by Alistair and Henritta Taylor, 1937 pages 24 & 40. There is also a
small chapter (page 469) on 'Swedish Forbeses' which shows the branch
descended from the above Duncan and another branch which descends from
the Forbes of Tolquhon.
