Sir Hugh de Lowther from Westmorland was living c1300. From
him are descended the Earls of Lonsdale.
I have a note here that says the Lowther lineage was
compiled by the late Canon CM Lowther Bouch, but I have no
idea how reliable that is or where one could get it from.

Herewith is a Descendants Tree for the Lowthers. I compiled it from various
sources including the Cumberland Visitations, the WFT, the Lowther Genforum,
and from "The Lowther Family" by Hugh Owen, (Phillimore 1981?). This book
alone has over 14 Lowther Family Trees and contains a fairly comprehensive
history of the family.
