Complete Peerage Addition: Marriage Date of Sir Robert de Ferrers and Margaret le Despenser

Complete Peerage, 5 (1926)): 315-317 (sub Ferrers) has a good account
of Sir Robert de Ferrers, 5th Lord Ferrers of Chartley, who died in
1413. Regarding his marriage to Margaret le Despenser, the following
information is provided:
"He married, 2ndly, Margaret, 4th and youngest daughter of Sir Edward
le Despenser, Lord of Glamorgan and Morganwwg [Lord Le Despenser], by
Elizabeth, daughter and heiress of Sir Bartholomew de Burghersh, of
Ewyas Lacy, co. Hereford, Stert and Colerne, Wilts, &c. [Lord
Burghersh]." END OF QUOTE.
As we can see above, Complete Peerage makes no indication as to when
Robert and Margaret were married. However, the record below taken
from the helpful online A2A Catalogue indicates that this couple were
married sometime before 14 July 1389, when Sir Robert de Ferrers made
a gift in free alms for the souls of himself and lady Margaret his
wife to the Canons regular of St. Thomas by Stafford of his right of
patronage of the church of Weston on Trent.

Scope and Content
1. the lord Robert de Ferraius, knight, lord of Charteleye
2. God and the Blessed Mary, Glorious Virgin and the Blessed Thomas
the Martyr by Stafford and the Canons Regular there
Agreement made before Richard Colle, clerk, Public Notary, of gift in
free alms of right of patronage of parish church of Weston super
Trentam, with all appurts., (pro salubri statu) of said Robert and the
lady Margaret his wife and souls of parents and ancestors etc. Said
canons 'there enclosed day and night' to receive yearly 52s. from
revenues of said church, viz. 12d. each Wednesday to augment their
allowance in the refectory. If the number of canons shall be increased
then the sum of pence (denariorum) shall be increased accordingly.
Notwithstanding that it should be served to the canons out of the
kitchen from the meat in gross (in grosso) as there prepared, and from
the allowance according to the course and custom of the house on that
day. Brother Richard de Huxton, Prior of said house, brother Richard
Lechefield, sub-prior, Brothers William de Bedenhale, Hugh de Ronton,
Thomas Swyneshed, Walter de Rolston, Richard de Lezhe, Nicholas de
Zoxhale, John de Stafford, John de Asshull, Philip de Staunford,
canons of said house agreed to the observing of all these things
laying hands upon the sacred gospels, before the said lord Robert and
others, took oath in the Chapter House and caused it to be written in
the Martilogium in perpetual memory.
