] Recently there was some discussion here about the "heir" (using modern

] the second edition of Cokayne's *Complete Peerage*, and "ES" refers to the
] Schwennicke edition of *Europaeische Stammtafeln*.

That's not Malcolm IV, but William the Lion, right? The legitimate line
was by Ermengarde de Beaumont: Alexander II -> Alexander III -> Margaret
-> Margaret (d. 26 Sep 1290)? Were other lines both through illegitimate
daughters of William the Lion and later extinct? (Dunbar, by Isabel de
Avenal?: Ada -> Patrick -> Patrick (d. 1248) -> Patrick (d. 1289) ->
Patrick (d. 1308) -> Alexander -> Patrick -> Agnes; and de Vesci, by the
daughter of Adam de Hythus?: Margaret -> William (d. 1253) -> William (d.
1297)?)

So like mums the word on Henri IV -> Louis XIII -> Louis XIV -> Louis le
G.D. -> Louis le P.D. -> Louis XV -> Louis -> Charles X -> Charles
Ferdinand -> Louise -> Roberto -> Elio Roberto -> Alicia (otherwise I'd
ask if I had it right, because I had the Parma line scrambled up once).
