George Washington is a _descendant_ of Wladyslaw II ... doesn't that mean
he's in the _direct_line? So far we have found only cousins....
Here's what I have on Wladyslaw Jagiello:
1. Wladyslaw Jagiello (1350-1434)
....Grand Duke Jagiello (Jogaila) of Lithuania
....He married four (4) times.
I have only two of the wives:
.......1 - Jadwiga, daughter of Ludwick of Hungary (1326-1382); also called
Louis de Anjou (son of Charles Robert of Anjou and Elizabeth, daughter of
Wladyslaw Lokietek); also called Lajos I in Hungary in 1342.
.....Ludwick of Hungary, was also Ludwik Wegierski, King of Poland on
November 17, 1370.
.......2 -
.......3 -
.......4 - Sophia of Holsany
Only two sons are cited in my Polish history book. Which wife are they
descended from?
(2) Wladyslaw III (1424-1444)
(2) Sisters????
(2) Kasmierz Jalliellonczyk (1427-1492)
..........Kasmierz married Elizabeth of Habsburg, "the mother of kings," and
she bore him six sons and seven daughters:
(3-1) Wladyslaw, eldest son of Kasimierz Jaiellonczyk ruled Bohemia
(1471-1516) and Hungary (1490-1516).
(3-2) son
(3-3) Jan Olbracht (1459-1501), 3rd born son of Kazimierz.
(3-4) Aleksanda (1461-1506) 4th born of Kazimerz.
............Grand DUke of Lithuania, King of Poland in 1501.
............Married the Muscovite Czar's daughter Helena.
(3-5) Zygmunt I Stary, 5th born of Kazimierz.
............Married Bona Sforna of Italy.
(3-6) son
(3-7) daughter
(3-8) daughter
(3-9) daughter
(3-10) daughter
(3-11) daughter
(3-12) daughter
(3-13) daughter
(4) Zygmunt II August (1520-1572)
...........Crowned King in 1529.
...........Married three times but died childless. WE CAN ELIMINATE HIS LINE!
Can anyone fill in the blanks here? It seems that there are MANY ways to
George Washington...which one is right?
Rafael, do you know?

Are you sure it is THIS Wladislaw II, and not the earlier Wladislaw II,
from whom several descents can be tranced?

He said something about bringing back a couple of Tablets with him ---
a genealogy of Bill Clinton to Adam and Eve?
Of course George Washington has Polish blood. --- Everyone important
has Polish blood.
George Washington also has Spanish blood and is the 20th
great-grandson of Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar [circa 1043 -- 1099] "El Cid"
Campeador.
It is not a well-known fact in genealogical circles, but in the
privacy of his own home at Mount Vernon, away from the prying eyes of
reporters and journalists --- Washington is known to have danced a
mean macarena.

There are two Wladislav II(s) you are right. Which one does George descent
from? I can find out. Found this piece in two sources...I could write the
publishers, but I thought someone here might know for sure? One was on a
Polish American Calendar, another was a book of Polish Trivia.
I am curious if it is true.

Washington is not, so far as I can tell, descended from any of the
Jagiellos. He is descended from several Piasts.

From the fourth, Sophia. They are Jagiello's only known children.
Wladyslaw, the elder, had no descendants at all. (d. 1444)
Kasimir, the younger, is an ancestor of every reigning monarch in Europe.
But not, so far as I can tell, of the first U.S. president.

Or any other US president.
Kasimir died in 1492, and the most recent Royal that any US president is
descended from is James II of Scotland (d. 1460). See Roberts, *Ancestors
of American Presidents*, First Authoritative Edition [Santa Clarita: Boyer,
1995], pp. 180-216 for details.
