Dear all,

I discovered this week that I descend from the family van Beveren (through the castellans of Dixmude living in Ieper) but the information I found differ a bit from what is on Leo's website.
My information comes from:
1. Warlop "the flemish nobility before 1300". 1973
2. François van de Putte "généalogie des châtelains de Dixmude et de leurs descendants", Annales de la société historique de la ville d'Ypres. 1861
3. J. Gailliard "généalogie van Dixmude. Bruges et le franc" 1857
4. A. Merghelynck "généalogie van Dixmude". Recueil de généalogies inédites. 1902

And it states the following:

1. Jan VAN DIXMUDE  sir of Dixmude born around 1270  +after1317 x N.. d'ESCORNAIX
2. Hendrik VAN BEVEREN alias van Dixmude, born around 1245 +after 1293, sir of Dixmude, brother of Diederik V x Agnès de ROEULX, of Erart x Isabelle de WAVRIN, of Jan bishop of Potenza
3. Anne d'ANTOING dauther of Pierre, sir of Antoing
4. Diderik (Thierry in French) IV VAN BEVEREN-WAAS, born around 1220 +between 1274 and 1282 Valenciennes, sir of Beveren and castellan of Dixmude
5. Marguerite de BRIENNE
8. Diderik III VAN BEVEREN-WAAS
9. Elisabeth de WALLERS
16. Diderik II VAN BEVEREN-WAAS
17. Ade de COUCY

The ancestors of Marguerite de Brienne and Ade de Coucy are well known (Marguerite is daughter of Erard de Brienne and Philippa de Champagne, and Ade is daughter of Raoul de Coucy and Agnès de Hainaut) but it is not the case for the DE BEVEREN family.
In particular, Warlop does not link Diderik II to his predecessors Jourdain and Diderik I.

I would be most grateful if somebody had further information or references regarding this family. I am also interested in any piece of information regarding the families d'Antoing and de Wallers.

thank you very much

best regards

Hello Antoine,
Have you checked the Roglo website, most
of it is of dubious value, but occasionally it can be useful.

You won't find that family indexed under van Beveren but under the
French form of de Beveren.

If you have Warlop, you may find this information in the Annex :)
Hope this helps,

Dear Leo and Henry, dear all,

Thank you for your valuable contributions. Both Leo's comments, and Henry's suggestion to check Roglo website have helped to clarify (or not) the case.
It seems that the link between the van Dixmude of Ieper and the van Beveren is less clear than what it looked initially.
I descend from Denis van Dixmude, knight and treasurer of the city of Ieper (born around 1320 and +20/06/1379), he is given by the printed sources I mentioned in my first email as son of Jacques van Dixmude and Marie de Montigny-d'Ostrevant, grand son of Jean van Dixmude, sir of Dixmude and N.. d'Escornaix, and great-grand son of Henri van Beveren alias van Dixmude and Anne d'Antoing, Henri being the son of Thierry IV van Beveren and Marguerite de Brienne.
But as Leo rightly pointed out, Warlop mentions this Henri only as a cleric and canon of St Donatian in Bruges, without any known wife or children.
To sort out the issue, I have contacted Thierry Stasser, author of an article published in 1991 and entitled "tableau d'ascendance d'Isabelle de Rumigny" that partly examines this family van Beveren.

Waiting for his answer and until somebody can advise me on other sources of information on this family, I will carefully cut the link to Thierry van Beveren-Waas and Marguerite de Brienne...
