I believe that the Complete Peerage says regarding the name of the
father of Walter fitz Edward ( of Chitterne, Wilts, died 1147), that
Edward was not of an AngloSaxon origin, but that the Normans also used
the name Edward. I personally havent seen many instances of this. I
thought that the name Edward was "revived" by King Henry III.
