These may be the same people then, but with some confusion. The information
that I have comes from a Mr. Roger Errington who has carried out a one-name
study on the ERRINGTON family. His information does indeed show Gilbert
Errington of West Denton married to Margaret Babington as a second marriage.
Her baptismal date corresponds with the one you have. However, he shows this
Gilbert had a first marriage to Jane Reed. Moreover, this Gilbert did have a
brother named George who married a Jane. However, Mr. Errington shows her as
Jane Ewbank. In any event, we are dealing with the same family with some
differing details that need to be explored.
I have also compared his information against the History of Northumberland
volumes and some Visitation Pedigrees and these confirm his information on
the Erringtons. I still lack quite a bit of information on the wives of the
ERRINGTONs.
So, this is the line of the ERRINGTONs of West Denton that I was asking
about. Do you have any details on Gilbert's parentage, especially the female
lines?
The Shafto line goes back into the 1300s, the Erringtons to the 1400s. I am
not sure of the connection between the Tempests of Thornley and the main
Tempest line, so consider it a hypothesis rather than something proved.
