Dear Researchers,
Visitation pedigrees state that in 1562 William Harvey, Clarenceux
confirmed to Simon Clare of Kidderminster Worcs, son of Gilbert Clare,
the arms; Or 3 chevrons gu. a bordure engrailed az. Simon Clare married
at Kidderminster in 1547 to Agnes daughter of Edward Blount (PR). The
earliest records of this family that I've found are that in 1373 John
Care was named a burgess for Kidderminster and in 1402 Walter Clare.
Could this Clare family of Kidderminster be descended from the de Clare?
If so, how? Any comments or suggestions on solving this mystery would
be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Fenford

I was under the impression that the Kidderminster Clares were to the
great early Clares, as the Spencers (e.g. Diana) were to the Despensers
(that is, not related at all but somehow admitted as sort-of-successors
by the Tudor heralds). But I'm happy to be proved wrong.
