Hello everyone,

I’d like to present some research I’ve done recently attempting to prove overlapping royal lines to Henry III of England and Philip III of France for one of my ancestors, Claude de la Rôche du Ronzet, a captain in Colonial Mauritius. His line to Henry III of England is through the Dukes of Brittany, and both lines pass through Marguerite de Bretagne, an illegitimate daughter of OIivier de Blois, Comte de Penthièvre, and an unknown mistress. Many thanks to Peter Stewart for his response to my last post, which enabled me to find the original eight-page marriage contract between Marguerite and Brandelis de Caumont. For most of the intermediate generations I have relied almost exclusively on abstracts of original records contained in the ‘Cabinet des Titres’. I welcome any feedback on or critiques of my research.

Hello

Congratulations on the hard work and the results.
I believe you can find additional information for the generations 10 through 12.
At least I have seen references to them while researching some families related to the Caumont that ended up not being in my lines.

I am not sure if enough documentation about those generations has survived to our times, but there may be articles from the 1800s about the Salignac, Scorailles and the Caumont.

I am sure I have seen an extensive work on the Caumont family through google books (though the hints were at geneanet).

I came across them while looking for information about a different de LaMothe family the Balaguier de Montsales from Bazadais, and the de Verduns.

Good luck,

I don't have time to go through all of your post but in this case you
are trusting an unreliable source - the epitaph on Jean's tomb in the
Carmelite church at Ploërmel clearly states that he died at Lyon on
Thursday 18 November 1305 ("Cy gist Iehan jadis Duc de Bretagne, qui
trespassa a Lyon sur le Rhosne le jeudi ez octaves de la feste de Saint
Martin d'hyver, l'an M.CCC.V."). This is illustrated in vol. 1 of the
work you linked above for the wrong year (in vol. 2), see here:
https://books.google.com.au/books?id=Aq-lrEBJwTUC&pg=PA224-IA1&lpg=PA224-IA1.
