Hello,

I am looking for the ancestors of HEDWIG de NAMUR(NAMEN), as I have conflicting data.

Hedwig married GERHARD, Ct in Elzas and of LORRAINE, who died March 6, 1070. Hedwig died in 1067.
They had two children:
- Dietrich, died Jan 23, 1115
- Gerhard, Ct of Vaudemont, marr. another Hedwig in 1070

As father of the first Hedwig (above), I have seen:
- ALBERT I (mother unknown), died in 1010
- ALBERT II, born 1000, married ca. 1035 to REGELINDUS of Lower-Lorraine.

Who are the correct parents\ancestors of Hedwig?
Please help me.

Leo

The speculation that Hadwide/Hadwig (d.28 Jan 1075/80) wife of Gerhard (d.
about 14 Apr 1070), duke of Lorraine, belonged to the house of Namur is no
longer accepted. Neither ES VII:68 (Namur) nor I.2:204 (Lorraine) so
indicate, the first by making no mention of a daughter of that name and the
second by giving her no affiliation.

Helwidis (d.<1126) second wife of Gerhard (d.1108), count of Vaudemont,
(and mother of his children) was the daughter and heir of Gerhard II, count
of Egisheim and his wife Richarda. [ES I.2:200B (Egisheim), 223 (Vaudemont)]
