I was wondering if anyone knows the identity of the Walter de Windsor
who was a frequent witness to Charters of King William the Lion of
Scotland.
Is he the same Walter de Windsor who was brother of Christiana, wife
of Duncan Lascelles c. 1200?
Does anyone know if they were connected to Matilda de Windsor who
married Alan de St Clair of Herdmanston and Carfrae maybe around 1180?
Thanks

========================
Dear Rondo,
Matilda de Windesoure (or Windsor), wife of Alan de St. Clair,
was a daughter of Alexander de Windesoure, of Morland in Kendal,
Westmorland, and his wife Agnes de Lancaster. Agnes was a sister of
Hawise, wife of Richard de Morville, Constable of Scotland.
Matilda had a brother William de Windesoure (als de Windlesores),
and evidently a sister Oseanna, but I am not aware of a sibling named
Walter. Presumably Walter de Windsor was a near kinsman of Alexander.
Cheers,
John
Five years ago, here FDP...@aol.com (who I can't remember who this is now)
posted an extract from William Farrar "Records of Kendale" which appears
that this marriage took place in 1160-1170 ? Does that seem right?.
Interesting one of the witnesses to this grant "with his daughter Agnes in
marriage" is a William de Lascelles.

Sorry for the late reply Alex, but things got very hectic here. I have
seen that pdf, and it seems to raise as many questions as it answers.
One has to wonder if Duncan Lascelles had 1 or 2 wives who just
coincidentally had the same name.
I haven't really seen anything that connects the 2 de Windsor
families, or have I missed something?
Thanks again
Rondo
