Hi Kate,
I missed your posting. Douglas Richardson has advised me that Ann Sutton's parents are Edward Sutton and Anne Stanley but Edward Sutton's parentage isn't known. I just bought Doug's "Plantagenet Ancestry" to help me along. My Family Tree Maker is a "working one" meaning I can add and also delete generations and people that aren't true. unfortunately, most stuff on the intenet has flaws in it and it just gets passed on.

Thanka a lot,
Marianne Dillow

Hi Marianne,

I don't know if you have seen this source yet:

The Visitations of Essex (Hawley, 1552; Hervey, 1558; Cooke, 1570; Raven,
1612; Owen and Lilly 1634)

http://books.google.com/books?id=hqwKAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA393&dq=richard+eltonhead+sutton

As you can see, this Visitation places Richard Eltonhead, husband of Anne
Sutton, as the son of William Eltonhead and Anne Bowers and grandson of
Richard Eltonhead and Jennet Gerrard. Richard Eltonhead's wife, Anne
Sutton, is listed as the daughter of an Edward Sutton, but I do not believe
she is the daughter of Lord Dudley, at least according to this Visitation,
because a fact like that would almost certainly have been mentioned.

A Visitation is a great place to begin researching a family, but in and of
itself usually isn't enough to thoroughly establish a pedigree. Good luck
on your research!
