so far it has no substance, just a skeleton. I'll be adding the details over the next week or so.

I have found a number of lines that are medieval but haven't qualified them yet.

Dear Will,

Do you hope to create his genealogy for us? I hope you succeed. Both Douglas
Richardson and Spencer Hines have indicated they have medieval royalty for
ancestors but both "only say so" no information is ever supplied. I think
people who expose ancestry of other people should be open about their own.

Are you starting a series of ancestry lists for people involved in
genealogy?

Geoffrey of Anjou of Plantagenet fame is an ancestor of the following people
involved in genealogy

Michael Andrews-Reading - Gordon Banks - Arturo Beeche Bravo - Brice
Clagett - James Cummings - Ian Fettes - John Steele Gordon - Gordon R. Hale
Jr. - Tony Hoskins - Will Johnson - Malinda Jones - Peter de Loriol - Andrew
MacEwen - Amaury de Maere d'Aertrycke - Bernard Mayaud - Doug McDonald -
Grant Menzies - Sir Iain Moncreiffe - George Andrews Moriarty - Brom Nichol
Jr - Ernst von Oidtman - Merilyn Pedrick - Tim Powys-Lybbe - John
Ravilious - William Addams Reitwiesner - Gary Boyd Roberts - Marie-Line
Rousset - Walter Lee Sheppard Jr - Sam Sloan - Louise Staley - Don Stone -
Gilbert von Studnitz - Nat Taylor - Michel Teillard d'Eyry - Hansa Vogels -
Robert Leigh Ward - Mike Welch - Kelsey Williams - Henry Mosle West Winter

Have fun :-)

What I've found interesting so far, is there there are people in DR's recent past who actually were *names* in their town at least, and yet when I run them I get almost nothing.

I would have thought DR would have broadcast them. But hey.

My own ancestry is posted in WorldConnect and online in a few other gedcoms with which I was toying. Sans the living people of course. I had to go back and scrub a few because I keep getting people looking up my home address and then calling me at HOME to ask about their own relatives.

Very annoying. I always advise people now to *not* put your address not even your city into your GEDCOM information. Just put your email addr or something.

I get about two calls per week at home still so its floating around out there still.

At any rate, I was actually supposed to be working on the ancestry of Rock Hudson's first lover "Kenneth G Hodge" and got side-tracked ;)

Well, of course we see that his ancestor Alpheus Richardson with wife
and child "Eno N" appear in the 1880 Census in California, with father
age 49 born Ohio, fathre born Mass, mother born Connecticut.

Going back to 1860 Alpheus,29 is living in the same California County
(Contra Costa)

1850 has Alpheus back where he was born in Ohio. Living in the
household of Manning (52) and Susannah Richardson born Connecticut.
Manning was born 1798 in Connecticut to David and Sarah (Hudson)
Richardson.
David Richardson born 23 JAN 1757 CT was born the son of David
Richardson born 1729
He the son of Stephen Richardson b: 1676 and Abigail Pelham b: 1709

Abigail was the daughter of Edward Pelham given here:

http://www.genealogics.org/getperson.php?personID=I00450412&tree=LEO

That would (according to Leo's page) give him a descent from Henry
VIII! Making him more royal than any of us (through the proposed
Cary's of course)

You can find a picture of the graves of my great-grandparents, Alpheus
Richardson and his wife, Avyette Taylor, on www.findagrave.com at the
following weblink:

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=RICHARDSON&GSfn=aLPHEUS&GSbyrel=all&GSdyrel=all&GSob=n&GRid=8085822&

Alpheus and Avyette Richardson both died in San Jose, California,
where they moved in order to put their children through college at the
College of the Pacific (since renamed the University of Pacific and
since relocated to Stockton, California). All four of my grandparents
were college graduates, two from the College of the Pacific, one from
Stanford, and one from Mills. Alpheus and Avyette were distantly
related to each other, they both being descended from the Willard
family of New England. Alpheus Richardson's mother's name was Lucina
Eno. Her name was not Susannah, although her name is rendered as such
once by the census taker as Joseph Cook has reported in a post.

I have no descent, real or imagined, from King Henry VIII of England.
My children, however, descend through their mother from Katherine
Wydeville, wife of Henry Stafford, 2nd Duke of Buckingham, who was a
great aunt of King Henry VIII.

Best always, Douglas Richardson, Salt Lake City, Utah

What is the source that makes this Abigail a daughter of this Edward?

Goodness, what can the obsessive twit mean by dragging my name into this?

Is finding and bragging about the most recent royal ancestor the main object
of genealgy to Hines? It has certainly never occurred to me that this can
"place" remote descendants anywhere but up themselves, looking very silly
indeed to everyone else. Needless to say, Hines often blusters about distant
relationships.

And of course no-one today can establish a descent from Henry VIII.

Hilarious!

Peter Stewart dearly wants to be descended from Henry VII, and has many of
the same character traits.

But he'd PREFER to be descended from someone much more recent -- say George
I, at the least -- but preferably Victoria.

However he has been quite unsuccessful in his diggings and peregrinations to
date -- even on the left side of the bed.

Hines needs to take some elementary lessons, Controversy 101 perhaps: you
can't satirise other people for your own values. It only makes you look even
more extremely stupid, if that is possible.

Henry VIII has now become Henry VII. From the latter, many of this
newsgroup's members (but evidently not Hines, who admires him excessively)
are descended.

As most readers may have recalled, I never post about ny own ancestry: this
is simply not an interest of mine. I am interested in how medieval
individuals were related to each other, but not to me (or anyone else living
today for that matter).

The only time I remember making any reference to the subject was when I was
obliged to correct some blatant falsehoods from Hines, who can't argue a
point rationally so takes instead - yet again - to inaccurate & reflexive
blather.

Dear Joseph ~

Abigail, the second wife of my male line ancestor, Stephen-3
Richardson, was the widow of Thomas Pelham, of Newport, Rhode Island.
Abigail and Stephen were married in 1728 in Newport, Rhode Island.
Her maiden name is yet unknown. So I lose the Pelham connection.

Due to the high social status of both of her husbands, I've suspected
for some time that Abigail was the grand-daughter of one of the early
colonial governors of Rhode Island. However, the given name Abigail
is extremely common among early Rhode Island families. Her only
surviving child, David-4 Richardson, named a son, Sanford, which is an
obvious clue to Abigail's maiden name. However, to date I've been
unable to place Abigail in any branch of the Sanford family of Rhode
Island.

Best always, Douglas RIchardson, Salt Lake City, Utah

Note to belabor this old topic, but DR or rather his ancestry has done
something interesting.

The wiki engine keeps tracks of the number of daily, unique visits to
each page. After I start a skeleton page, I check this "hit rate" to
see which pages are popular. Those pages that seem popular I go back
to add more details.

I was very surprised to see that Wallis Warfield was still so popular
a topic. She still commands spot number 4 on my hit parade. She
climbed the charts very quickly, but Rock Hudson perhaps beat her for
speed for currently sits at spot 10 (and 11).

Well now, appropos of this thread, Douglas Charles Richardson has done
an amazing swoop up the charts currently holding position 8 for
heavens sake. And I have no idea why. At this rate he will shortly
beat Bill Clinton and might seriously endanger Joseph Biden by the end
of September.

The hit parade with hit rates is here
http://www.countyhistorian.com/cecilweb/index.php/Special:Popularpages

If anyone knows, I'd sure like to know why.
