One of my ancestors is Christen Ottesen Blichfeldt, born about 1540 in
Copenahagen and dead 23 April 1596. (Article by Danish genealogist Th.
Baumgarten published in 1912 and Ragnar Blichfeldt: "Slekten Blichfeldt i
Tyskland-Danmark-Norge i 475 aar." (1969). Among the author's papers is one
which says that Blichfeldt's father was a German Otto Blichfeld, born in
Westphalia, who came to Copenhagen in connection with the marriage of the
Danish king Christian III. Blichfeld's mother was Dorothea, the daughter of
Duke Magnus of Sachsen-Lauenberg in Westphalia. Otto Blichfeldt became Master
of the Royal Armories in Copenahagen.

The author, Ragnar Blichfeldt, has, to the best of my knowledge always been
well regarded in genealogical circles in Norway and Denmark.

Question # 1 is: Is this relationship credible? Did Duke Magnus have a daughter
named Dorothea? Is it known who she married?

Question # 2 is: If the relationship is credible, who was Duke Magnus' wife and
who were her ancestors? Who were Duke Magnus' ancestors?

I've appreciated all the help I've gotten on this board in the past, and will
appreciate any I get now in like manner.

Have a look to my data base. The datas are in french, but the program
speak english:
http://pauillac.inria.fr/~ddr/gene.en.html

Enter and search:
"Magnus Ier de Saxe-Lauenbourg"
and click...

He has a daughter Dorothee who married Christian III, king ("roi") of
Denmark.

Magnus's Wife is from the house Welf, or Brunswick-Luneburg.
You can see his ancestors until the 26th generation (not complete, of
course).

Regards.

I think somebody misread something. The marriage of Christian III, on 29
October 1525, was to this Dorothea, who was born on 9 July 1511. In other
words, according to you, Otto Blichfeld came to Copenhagen with his
then-fourteen-year-old mother so that she could be married to the King.

Dorothea was wife of Christian III. This story has gotten terribly
muddled somehow.

FWIW; AFAIK; IMHO; YMMV; yadda, yadda, yadda.

Thanks to everyone who replied. I reviewed the original posting and found it
could be read two ways. Unfortunately I read it the way that makes no sense
whatsoever.
