The _British Archivist_ for March 1914 has a drop-line chart of Pollock of Balgray stating that this Thomas of North Carolina was "b. 7 May 1654. Emigrated to New England, became President of the Colony of North Carolina and major-general of the colonial forces."

The parents, Thomas Pollock and Elizabeth Hill, are identified further in the chart:

--"Thomas Pollok, mer. of Glasgow 18 Dec. 1634, 'is maid burges and gild-brother of the said brucht as he [? cha] hes mareit Elspeth Hill, Lawfull dochter to umquhill Niniane Hill, merchant, burges and gildbrother thairof.' He bought Balgray; d. April 1680; Will confirmed 25 May 1680. (Com. Glasgow)."

--"Elizabeth Hill, daughter of Ninian Hill of Garioch, mer. in Glasgow, and Helen Hutcheson his wife, who was a sister of George and Thomas Hutcheson, founders of Hutcheson Hospital and School, Glasgow. She died March 1664."

The grandparents of the North Carolina man are show as Rev. David Pollok of Glenluce and his wife Margaret Boyd, who was the daughter of an Archbishop of Glasgow.
