1416. J.P. for Kent, 3 Feb. 1416 to July 1420 & from 12 Feb. 1422 to July
1423. On various royal commissions from Feb. 1412 to July 1428. Will
dated 31 May 1441. Died June 1441. Will Proved 14 June 1441. He had
issue: HoP 1386-1421, II, pp 557-8
1a.John (Sir), Kt., of Shurland., M.P. for Kent, Feb. 1449. Died 1467.
He had issue:
1b.John, 1st Baron Cheyne., Summoned to Parliament as a Baron, 1487.

ELIZABETH CHEYNE, M JOHN WILCOTES, M.P., J.P., of Wilcotes, in the Parish
of Quinton, Gloucs., & Great Tew & Heythrope, Oxon. (Died 21 May 1422).

My notes from Hasted's History of Kent (which may have more on this family)

ALEXANDER de CHENEY; Sir; Of Patrixborne
Cheney which manor was given to him in Hy
III reign by Sir WILLIAM de SAY; In
1299/1300 attended that king in the
victorious experdition into Scotland and at the
siege of Carlaverock where he was knighted

He was father of

WILLIAM de CHENEY (-1334/5
possesed of the manor of
Basmangore); m Margaret d&h
of Sir ROBERT de SHURLAND in
whoes right he held the manor
of Shurland, Shepey, where he
resided; He held many other
estaes in Kent
