Hi I have traced my fiance's family back to a man named John Darden
(Durden) in Essex in England before the year 1600 (because he had a son
who was born in 1611), I have no idea what the mother's name was. I am
not sure where to look to trace this back any further. If any of you
have any info on him or know where I can get some (I've looked at the
first 100 sites yahoo looks up under "essex genealogy" and have only
found and entry for a Robert Durden in 1602. Any help would be greatly
appreciated. Thank you so much!

Jennifer

P.S. I am going to post this on more than one group because I'm not sure
if everyone posts to a specific group so you can reply directly to me if
you wish. Thank you

You might find a few useful links here:

http://www.nivek-systems.co.uk/genuki/ESS/

You could also try the Durden family genealogy forum if you have not already
done so:

http://genforum.genealogy.com/durden/

Familysearch brings up 5 John Durdens (Dearden/ Duerden, Duerdeon, Durden)
in Essex, 2 of them in baptised in 1594. No Roberts.

You might be interested in these entries for Stephen Durden (bc 1611) on
Rootsweb Worldconnect, the first of which mentions Essex:

Thank you so much, I hadn't come across the thing about Dearden when I searched rootsweb. That was great to find. The Stephen mentioned is the son of the John Darden I am looking for. I received some good links from you and from another board that are greatly appreciate! Thank you again.
