Is Maud Trussell (?-1369) who married John de Hastang (?-1367) the daughter of
Sir William Trussell (c1295- ?) and Matilda/Maud de Mainwaring? I have
exhausted all of my sources, and any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Susan

Ormerod does not show this Maud. Maud, the datr. of Sir William and
Maud, is shown to have married Hugh Coksey.

CP VI:344 states that Maud was a daughter of Sir William Trussell (or by Dugdale) a
daughter of Sir Waryn Trussell. CP Also states the confusion as to which John Maud
was married, this one or as a second wife of his father. Sorry, this seems to be as
clear as mud.

Thanks Henry,
I had also seen that she was a daughter of Sir William and some other sources
said that she was the daughter of his son Warin.

Ormerod, III: 229 shows Maud, wife of John Hastings [sic] as daughter of Sir
Warin Trussell, of Cubbleston by his wife, the daughter of John Stafford, Kt.

Sir Waryn Trussell, of Willaston (Wirrel), Cheshire died c1365. Willaston was
settled upon him by his mother in 1316/7. He is called a knight in 1359. CP,
VI: 343 does state she is said to have been a daughter of Sir William Trussell,
Sir Waryn's brother, but if that were the case Maud would then have been
co-heiress with Sir William's daughter Margaret, which she was not, and the
arms of her husband would have been quartered with those of Trussell, which
they were not. Biographical details on the two Trussell brothers and a nephew
can be found in "Account of Master John de Burnham the Younger, Chamberlain of
Chester, of the Revenues of the Counties of Chester and Flint, Michaelmas 1361
to Michaelmas 1362," edited by P. H. W. Booth and A. D. Carr, published by the
Record Society of Lancashire and Cheshire, 1991.
