I'm stuck and confused! Can someone help me out?

Philip Despenser, b. 1313, was the son of Philip, d. 1313, was the son of
Hugh, b. 1260?

Also, who were Joan Cobham's parents?

And I thought my Coleman/Goodwin/Graves lines were bad about using the same
names
over and over, again. Sheesh!

Thank you!

Good Morning, Virginia,

Actually, you've got your Despensers working right. :)

What I show is as follows:

..1. Hugh le Despenser, of Loughborough, Arnesby, co. Leicester & c., lst
Lord Le Despenser (summons to Parliament by writ from 24 June 1295); created
Earl of Winchester; ex. 1326; m. Isabel de Beauchamp

..2. Philip le Despenser (2nd son), of Parlington, co. York and Alkborough,
co. Lincoln; d. 24 Sept 1313; m. Margaret de Goushill, daughter of Sir Ralph
de Goushill of Goxhill, co. Lincoln and Hawise FitzWarin

..3. Sir Philip le Despenser, of Camoys Manor in Toppesfield, Essex; b. 6
April 1313; d. 23 Aug 1349; Lord Le Despenser (summoned to Parliament by writ
from 17 Dec 1387); m. [MOST PROBABLY -CP] Joan de Cobham, 2nd Lord Cobham by
Joan de Beauchamp [daughter of John, Lord Beauchamp of Hatch]

This branch of the Despensers is given by CP Vol. IV, pp. 288 et seq.
The identification of Joan de Cobham is on p. 289 and detailed in p. 289 note
(b).

Hope this helps. Good luck, and good hunting.

John

Hello Virginia et al.,

One followup note, on the subject of errata [erratum, actually]:

Under generation #3 of the prior post, it should state

' Joan de Cobham, DAUGHTER OF JOHN DE COBHAM, 2nd Lord Cobham '

As the originally text reads, Ms. de Cobham would have been a queer
Peer. :)

John
