Thomas Hoo K.G.
+?
1. Daughter
+ Thomas Lewknor, Sir Knight, b. c1408 Postling, Kent
2. Richard Lewknor b. c 1440 Kent
3. Bennet Lewkenor b c 1457 or 1475
+ William Barnes
Here's where I'm confused -is Richard matched up with the correct mother? The
record on Thomas Hoo, lists his spouse as Eleanor Welles, but that she wasn't
the mother - who was? A note suggests that he was the same Thomas Hoo who was
grandfather to Ann Boleyn. Is this correct or someone's speculation?

I previously gave a reply to a similar question as follows (no Hoo surname)
Sussex Archaelogical Collections Vol III (1849) page 98
Bennetta Lewknor m1 William Barnes, m2 Thomas Twisden and m3 Vincent Finch
(English Barts. Ed. 1741, vol. i. p.212.)
[I assume this means Finch's descendant was made a Baronet]
She was dau. of Richard Lewknor of Sherfield by dau. of Mychellgrove.
I expect this is the present day Sheffield in Sussex.
He was the son of
Sir Roger Lewknor of Dedisham, in Slimfold; restored in blood 1477; ob.
(=died) 38 Edw. IV [this date is wrong, Edw IV only ruled for 22 years,
perhaps it should be 18 Edw IV. which is 1478/9] by Alionora, da and
co-heir of Richard, [Camoys] Baron Camoys; 1st wife .. Sept. 1445; ob. 14
Oct. 18 Edw. IV [It is not clear to me if this means Sir Roger
Lewknor's first wife or Baron Camoys first wife, probably the latter
otherwise what is the significance of Sept 1445 or who died on 14 Oct 18
Edw IV (=1478). In CP Vol II page 508, this Richard Camoys was not a
Baron, but father of the 2nd Baron and son of the 1st]
He was the son of
Sir Thomas Lewknor m Phillippa dau and co-heir of Sir Edward Dalyngrudge,
and widow of Sir Richard Barnes, Knt. [she was more probably dau of Walter
Dalyngrigge and niece and eventual heir to Sir Edward Dalyngrigge
(c.1346-by
1395), builder of Bodiam Castle]
He was the son of Sir Roger Lewknor, Knight of the Shire, 4th Hen, IV ob.
10 Edw IV; ipm 13 Ede IV [these last two should probably read Hen IV.] by
Elizabeth dau of Sir John Carew of Fulford.
He was the son of
Sir Thomas Lewknor knt, living 30 Edw III (1356) by Jane dau and heir of
Sir John D'Oyley of Stoke D'Oyley
He was the son of
Sir Roger Lewknor, knight of the shire in 1336; aged 32 in 10 Edw III;
Sheriff of Sussex in 29 Ede III; ob. 36 Edw. III (1362) by Barbara dau and
heir of Bardolph [Katherine was Sir Roger's widow, but she may have been
his wife subsequent to Barbara.]
He was the son of Thomas Lewknor, aged 24 in 23 Edw. I (this might also
mean the date of death, not sure) ipm at Lewes on Sundat after the Feast
of St Edward.
He was the son of Roger de Lewkenor, Sheriff of Surrey 12 Edw I (1284);
died seized of the manors of Selmeston, Itford and Horsted Keynes. ipm 23
Edw I. by Joan dau and heir of Richard de Kaynes of Horsted Keynes
the son of Nicholas Lewknor, Lord of the manor of Rayne Hall, Essex; keeper
of the Wardrobe; ob. 1268. This descent, however, is not clearly supported
by authority. (Morant's Essex, vol ii. p. 401.)
I have given just the direct line here, SAC gives quite a few more
branches. Some of the dates given don not make sense, as indicated by me.
There are foot-note referances in SAC, but unfortunately SAC has forgotten
to print them.
