With the recent threads on the Nevilles mentioning de La Haye ancestors,
I wonder if there might be a possibility of connecting or further
identifying one Jean de La Haye seigneur d'Escauleville and father of
Anne de La Haye who was married in 1475 to Ferrand LeMarchand?

Paul Leportier's book on medieval Norman families has a section on the
de La Hayes. He suggests that the father of Jean may have been Pierre
de La Haye, who was the son of another Jean de La Haye (fl. 1380),
seigneur of Sotteville. The basis for this conjecture seems to be
that Sotteville was eventually inherited by the LeMarchands.

Leportier traces the La Haye line back a further ten or so
generations, with numerous links to other well-documented Anglo-Norman
families. The only link in the lineage that appears to be
questionable is the one between Pierre and the younger Jean.
