I've done some online searching and cannot find proof of such a child,
but on a webpage called "History Detroit 1701-2001" (at
http://www.historydetroit.com/people/robert_navarre.asp), it is stated
that a certain Robert Navarre (1739-1791) of Detroit was a descendant
of Antoine. Mind you, that webpage also stated that "The Navarre's,
are descedents of Antoine Navarre, Duke de Vendome who was a
half-brother of Henry IV, King of France and Navarre".

This is bullshit. The line is from Denissen who invented it or copied
it from another source. The fact someone is called Navarre doesn't
make him a son of the Duke of Navarre.

LOL, I didn't expect such a spirited reply, Denis. I hope you noticed,
however, that I said "unlikely name" and "Mind you ...". I don't
believe this tale found in that message board, but was curious to know
more about the possible illegitimate children of Antoine de Bourbon.
By the way, could you explain who is Denissen, and how his 'invention'
is BS?

Hi Yvonne, he seems to have two children by a mistress, Louise de La
Beraudière, named Jacquinne d'Artigulouve and Charles de Vendôme
(1554-1610) who was Archbishop of Rouen, no further info.
Caveat emptor, FWIW etc
Cheers,
Henry
Is there such a title as Duke of Navarre??
Denissen is the author of a genealogical dictionary about French families
of Detroit area. He copied the line from another source (I get the
data from another person who I believe to be the descendant of that
line), but there is one more generation, the royal link. So, either
he invented that link or he copied an intermediate source.
See this page for more:

I met the author of that site a few times in France. I was surprised to
later find nearly the same line in Denissen. It seems we have 2 different
copies of his book in Montreal "Genealogy of the French families of
the Detroit River Region". SGCF has the revised released of 1987 so
I presume ANQ has another version with the Navarre line. I don't know
if the line was added in a 3rd version or if it was in the 1st version.
If the 3rd version, then the invention is not that of Denissen...
