While looking at the Gostwick family, I noticed that CP 2:76. states that
Margaret St. John (sister of Oliver, 1st Lord St. John), first wife of Francis
Russell, Earl of Bedford, and mother of his heir, was widow of Sir John
Gostwick.

Margaret St. John was actually wife of William Gostwick, only son and heir of
Sir John Gostwick, of Willington, Beds. (PCC 1545), treasurer of the First
Fruits and Tenths, as is proved by C 1/1187/5-8.

Sir John's brother, William Gostwick, Esquire, of Willington, was ancestor of
Mary Gostwick, mother of Nicholas Spencer, of Virginia.
