I studied this family a few years back, since I descend from the Gilpin
family, some of whom had
connections with the Tunstalls.
The following is from the book "A History of the Parish of Tunstall" by
WH Chippindall, which appears
to be fairly well documented.
Thomas Tunstall, died before 1499, the son of Thomas Tunstall and
Eleanor Fitz Hugh (I do descend from her, through another marriage)
was married to Alice daughter of George Nevill.
Their daughters were: Alice, wife of Richard Huddleston of West Hall;
Margaret wife of William Redmayne
of Twisleton; and a daughter who married William Layton of Dalemain.
The sons of Thomas and Alice were: Thomas, died 1503, no children;
William, founder of the Tunstalls of
Aldcliffe; and Brian, who was slain at Flodden Field in 1513.
This last named Brian was married to Isabel daughter of Henry Boynton.
Their children were Brian, born Nov 1523, knight of Rhodes,
died in 1539, no children; Anne age 3 in 1513, married to John Middleton
of Middleton Hall, Westmoreland; and Sir
Marmaduke Tunstall, age 6 in 1513, knighted in 1553, died in 1557,
according to his IPM. His wife was Mary, daughter
and coheir of Sir Robert Scargill of Scargill. Brian and Isabel had one
son and four daughters.
Tell me if you would like copies of this book, which gives the Tunstall
family going back to about 1200. It also gives a good deal
of biographical detail on these people. I wonder if any commoners out
there descend from them?

Geoge Neville, Archbishop of York born 1433, died at Blyth 8 June 1478
I show him d. 1476 per an Encyclopaedia Brittannica (1971) reference. Any
opinion as to him being d. 1476 and just b. at Blyth 1478?

"In voting to aquit the President, I do so with grave misgivings for I do not
mean in any way to exonerate this man. He lied under oath. He sought to
interfere with the evidence; he tried to influence the testimony of key
witnesses. And while it may not be a crime, he exploited a very young, star
struck employee whom he then proceeded to smear in an attempt to destroy her
credability, her reputatation, her life."

I'm sorry but I seem to have missed the date on this one. I didn't know
that there were Republicans in Maine, or Anjou, or any other of those
Medieval places. Thanks for this new fact.

--- A correction is in order here. The younger Brian was born in Nov
1513, not 1523.
We all know that its impossible for a child to be born ten years after
the fathers death.
Many thanks to David Botts for pointing this out to me.
