I'm very interested in this information, but these charts never come out in
proper lines on my screens, so I can't see who's descended from whom. Any
way you can list them in linear order? I have:

John of Brienne King of Jerusalem (1148 - 1237) & Marie de Montferrat (1191 -
1212)
| Marie DE BRIENNE ( - After 5 May 1275) & Baldwin II DE COURTENAY Emperor
of Byzantium (1217 - 1273)
| | Melisende & Fulk V of Anjou the Young King of Jerusalem (1092 - 10 Nov
1143)
| | Philippe DE COURTENAY Emp. Constantino (1243 - 1283) & Beatrix ( -
1275)
| | Helene DE COURTENAY ( - 1314) & Stefan Uros I King of Serbia ( - 1280)
| Yolande (1212 - 1228) & Frederick II Holy Roman Emper (26 Dec 1194 - 13
Dec 1250)
| | 2nd wife of John III & John III Emperor Nicaea ( - 1254)

Don't know how they fit together, or if any of this is accurate.

How does your info fit with this?

Best wishes,

How reliable is the extensive Brienne pedigree given in Burke's Peerage,
I think under a Beaumont title? I know Burkes do not have a rock-solid
reputation, but this is the only coherent source I have ever seen for
this family.

Thanks

yes. he married two other times. marie of montferrat was the heiress of
jerusalem

marie of brienne was the daughter of berenguela of castile,

1)they were the parents of philip of courtenay +1283, titular emperor, who
married beatrice d'anjou, dau of charles i of anjou, k. of naples +1275
these were the parents of
1.1) catherine +1307, titular empress, who married charles, c. of valois,
son of philip iii of france, +1325. and had two daughters
1.1.1) catherine +1346, married philip of tarento, third son of charles ii
of naples
and
1.1.2) isabella, +1336?, who married peter i, duc of bourbon (1311-56)
i think the descendants of both daughters died out in the first, second
or third generation. i am not sure of that.

well, checking some notes i had, and a small chart from a source i
did not note!

1) redon of penthievre, c. of brienne (no dates given)
father of at least two sons, and one daughter
1.1 andre (+1189) = adela de venisy
1.1.1. erard ii (+1250) c. of brienne = in 1214 philippa of champagne
daughter of queen isabella of jerusalem and henry of champagne, d.after
1256 (childless)
1.2. erard = agnes of montbeliard-montfaucon
1.2.1. walter iii (+1205) c. of brienne and lecce, married alberada of
sicily, illegitimate daughter of the king of sicily (william ii?)

1.2.2. jean of brienne (1147-1237), k.of jerusalem, regent of constantinople
married (3) 1224 berenguela of castile, parents of
1.2.2.1. maria of brienne = 1229 baudouin ii, latin emperor
1.2.2.2 louis d'acre = agnes of beaumont, parents of several children
including
1.2.2.2.1 margaret of beaumont = bohemund vii, prince of antioch, d.1287

now, i am sure some of us would have more details.
i don't know about louis's beaumont descendants.

I know I have asked this before, but Moriarty shows "Engilbert, Count of
Brienne" as son of Eudes, son of Arnulf II Count of Flanders (but not by
Eudes first wife, who was his niece, much to the displeasure of the
pope. He cites the unpublished transcripts of a monastic chartulary
being made by Staffenburg (I think it was). As far as I can tell, this
material has never appeared in print, and would require a rearrangement
of the early generations of the family, since Eudes could not have been
father of Engilbert I. Does anyone know anything more about Moriarty's
source?
