the title is how it was listed. What is the correct year?]
2) "Visitation of Bedfordshire in 1566"
3) "Testamenta Eboracensia" or "Wills Registered at York, Publications of
the Surtees Society", 6 vols, 1836-1902 [has some wills]
4) "Pedigrees of the County Families of Yorkshire" or "Yorkshire Pedigrees"
by Joseph Foster, FHL #924,024 [is this the same as #1?]
5) NEHGR, vol. 120, p. 170-174, by Moriarty
Descendants of the Gascoigne family include several notable individuals,
including:
1) Fergie

4) Pres. George Washington
5) Pres. Jefferson Davis
6) Meriwether Lewis
7) Pres. Zachary Taylor (this connection is broken as it appears that Mary
Wentworth did not marry William Brewster of the Mayflower)
Also note that some swap the wife of William #2 with the wife of William #3.
Can anyone add any additional details to these individuals (dates, places,
titles, wives)? Or add new branches/ancestors of Gascoigne's to the family?

Don't know, but a quick search of the Aske family has led me to the
following in CP Vol VI pp 361-2, extracts:
Sir Hugh Hastings (c1447-1488) de jure 10th Bn Hastings m bfr 12 Apr 1455
Anne d of Sir William Gascoign of Gawthorpe, Yorks by Margaret d of Thomas
Clarelle of Aldwark in that County (As it happens the FitzWilliams came
from Aldwark, near Rotherham, Yorks see below) and left
Sir John Hastings (c1466-1584 dsps) de jure 11Bn, of Gressenhall, Essex;
m1 bfr Mar 1489/90 Isabel d&h of Sir Ralph Babthorpe of Babthorpe, Yorks;
m2 Katherine (-Will 1506/7) d of Sir John Aske of Aughton by Elizabeth d of
Sir Ralph Bigod of Settringron, Yorks.
I have not yet looked to see how this fits into your information, I will
leave that fun to you.
I see that Leo's message ties in Lucy Fitwilliam (nee Nevill) who m2 Sir
Anthony Browne - see my recent message. As per that message, Lucy Browne
described her daughter as Gascoign wife of Sir William Gascoign in her will
of 20 Aug 1531, in the Will of her brother (that is Elizabeth's brother)
William FitzWilliam 10 Sept 1542 she is again called Gascoign wife of Sir
William Gascoign, but by 21 April 1547 in the Will of her half brother Sir
Anthony Browne she is Elizabeth wife of Nicholas Hervey. Here she was
described as sister not half sister of Sir Anthony Browne, but his full
sister Elizabeth was than married to Hugh Somerset 2 Er Worcester (he d 26
Nov 1549), so he must have been referring to his half sister. Note that in
Burkes extinct peerage Elizabeth Fitzwilliam is shown as m1 Sir Thomas
Mauleverer and m2 Sir Nicholas Hervey (who he survived). No mention of
Gascoign See Burke's Extinct Peerage (1883) page 277.
This is a bit rushed, I hope it makes sense.
