Sir John Pilkington and Margaret de Verdun

Does anyone have any information on the ancestry of Sir John Pilkington and his
wife, Margaret de Verdun, heiress of Wolphage in Brixworth, co. Northampton and
Bressingham, Norfolk. They lived about the year 1400. If so, I'd appreciate
particulars.

Brisingham, Dec. 1255. M -- , sister & heir of Simon Fitz Simon, of
Brixworth, Northants. Died shortly before 23 Nov. 1277. He had issue: CP,
XII Pt 2, p 242

JOHN de VERDON, of Brisingham, Norfolk., Born 11 June 1256. Given seisen
of his lands, Jan. 1277/8. He was summoned or service against the Wales,
1282, & to Gascony, 1294. He made grants to the canons of Buckenham,
Norfolk, & to Sibton Convent, Suffolk. M before 1276 Eleanor, d. of Sir
Thomas de Furnival, Kt., of Sheffield, Yorks. (See FURNIVAL). Died shortly
before 23 April 1295, aged 38. He had issue: CP, XII Pt 2, pp 242-3

Sir THOMAS de VERDON, Kt., of Brisingham, Norfolk., & Brixworth,
Northants., Bapt. 10 Jan. 1275/6 at Whiston, Yorks. He was a ward of John
de Ferrers & was given seisen of his lands, having proved his age, May
1297. He was summoned for foreign service, 1297, & against the Scots,
1298-1301, taking part in the Falkirk campaign of 1298. As King's Yeoman
he was given timber in Rockingham Forest, 18 March 1297/8 & had licence to
erect a gallows at Brixworth, 12 Feb. 1300/1. He was knighted with the
Prince of Wales, 22 May 1306, but later in that year he was one of a number
of knights who left the King & the army in Scotland without leave.
Consequently his possessions were ordered to be seized, 18 Oct. 1306, but
they were restored to him, 23 Jan. 1306/7. M before 1299 Margaret, d. of
Bewes, 1st Baron Knovill, & his wife Joan (See KNOVILL). Died shortly
before 10 Aug. 1315, aged 39. Inq. p.m., 24 June 1316. He had issue: CP,
XII Pt 2, pp 244-5 Weis, p 38

JOHN, 1st BARON VERDON., of Brisingham, Norfolk., & Brixworth, Northants.,
Born 24 June 1299. He was summoned for service against the Scots in 1322 &
1335. Was returned by the sheriffs of Hertford, Suffolk & Northants. as a
knight to attend the Great Council at Westminster in 1324. In June 1324 he
went on the king's service to Aquataine & in July 1331 he was one of the
sureties for Hugh le Despencer. He was summoned to Parliament from 27 Jan.
1331/2 to 22 Jan. 1335/6 whereby he is held to have become Lord Verdon. He
was in the retinue of the Princess Eleanor for her marriage with Raynaud,
Count of Guelders, 22 May 1332. Appointed Constable of Rockingham Castle &
Keeper of the Forest there for life by Queen Philippa before Sept. 1335,
which grant was confirmed by the King, 24 July 1337. He was in the company
of William de Bohun, Earl of Northampton, to cross the seas in 1337, & took
part in the Crecy campaign of 1346, serving in the 1st division under
Prince of Wales, but returned to England because of illness before 12 Jan.
1346/7. He was ordered to conduct the captive King of France from Stamford
to Woburn Abbey, 14 march 1359/60. Chosen Knight of the Shire for
Northants., June 1369. He last appears as a Justice for Oyer & Terminer in
Northants., May 1370. M 1st before 1326 Agnes. M 2nd before 1340 Maud,
widow of Ralph de Crophull, of Bonnington, Notts. Died after 23 Oct. 1376.

BEWES, 1st BARON KNOVILL, of Blanchminster, Salop., He was a supporter of
King Henry III in the Barons' War, & consequently received lands at
Woodford, Northants., 1266, & at Gravenhill, Glouc., c. 1270. From 27 Oct.
1274 to 25 Oct 1278 he was Sheriff of Salop & Staffs, & Keeper of the
castles of Bridgenorth & Shrewsbury. Appointed keeper of the manor of
Oswestry, 19 June 1275, & of the castle of Montgomery, 10 Sept. 1275. From
16 June 1278 to 7 Jan. 1278/9 he was keeper of Dolvoran Castle. Appointed
Steward of Carmarthen & Cardigan, 30 July 1280, & Justice of Wales the same
year. Summoned for military service against the Welsh, Aug. 1282. He was
ordered to reside on his demesnes & to resist the attacks of Rhys ap
Meredith. Summoned to Parliament from 24 June 1295 to 3 Nov. 1306 whereby
he is held to have become Lord Knovill. Summoned to perform military
service beyond the seas, July 1297, & against the Scots in 1299, 1300, 1301
& 1303. On 12 Feb. 1300/1 he joined in the Barons' letter to the Pope
about King Edward's claims to Scotland. M 1st before Oct. 1273 Joan, d. of
Cecily Walerand. M 2nd c. 1276 Eleanor, d. of William de Warenne, of
Blanchminster. Died before 6 July 1307. Inq pm. He had issue: CP, VII,
