to Gen-Med, Leo
Leo's database shows the first wife of Lucas Plunkett, Earl of Fingall, as
Elizabeth O'Donell (http://genealogics.org/getperson.php?personID=I00571637
<http://genealogics.org/getperson.php?personID=I00571637&tree=LEO>
&tree=LEO). Although he only cites Burkes Peerage, Baronetage and Knightage
(1938), this is repeated in Complete Peerage 5:385 (with no correction in
vol. 14) where she is identified as the daughter of Roderick (O'Donnell),
Earl of Tyrconnel, by Bridget, daughter of Henry FitzGerald, Earl of
Kildare. CP 12 (2): 313 shows that Bridget FitzGerald was aged 7 1/2 at her
father's death in August 1597, thus born early 1590. If Elizabeth was born
when her mother Bridget was fifteen, then Elizabeth could have been no more
than 5 or 6 years old at her decease when, when Lucas Plunkett married his
second wife, Susanna Brabazon, in 1611.

Arch.Cantiana 11: 220 et seq cites the will (dated 20 June 1628) of Frances
Howard, wife of (1) Henry FitzGerald, Earl of Kildare and (2) Henry Brooke,
Lord Cobham (http://www.genealogics.org/getperson.php?personID=I00008201
<http://www.genealogics.org/getperson.php?personID=I00008201&tree=LEO>
&tree=LEO). Frances' will identifies her "sonne the Lord of Killeene husband
vnto my daughter Elizabeth." The Lord of Killeen in 1628 was Lucas Plunkett,
who was created Earl of Fingall in September 1628.

Thus, the first wife of Lucas Plunkett was Elizabeth FitzGerald, daughter of
Henry & Frances (Howard) FitzGerald and sister to Bridget, wife of Roderick,
Earl of Tyrconnel, which also fits better chronologically.
