Dear Timothy,
I had hoped someone else would by now have jumped in to answer
your question, I am very reluctant to do it. The main reason is, I cannot
lay my hands on my copy of "The son of Leicester", by Arthur Gould Lee.
As a result the Italian part is very incomplete. Well, here I go :

Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester
born 24 June 1532 or 1533, died 4 September 1588 Cornbury
married (1) 4 June 1549
Amy Robsart, daughter of Sir John Robsart and Elizabeth Scott
born circa 1532 Stansfield, died 8 September 1560 Cumnor Place, Berkshire
married (2) May 1573 Esher (secretly and later denied by both)
Douglas Howard, daughter of Lord William Howard, 1st Baron Howard of
Effingham, and Margaret Gamage
born 1545, buried 11 December 1608
married (3) 21 September 1578 Wanstead, Essex
Lettice Knollys, daughter of Sir Francis Knollys and Catherine/Mary Cary
born 1539, died 25 December 1634 Drayton Basset
children :

(3rd marriage)
2.Robert Dudley, Lord Denbigh
died 19 July 1584 Wanstead, buried Beauchamp Chapel, Warwick

Sir Robert Dudley, son of the Earl of Leicester and Douglas Howard
like his father, he had a messy marital record. Later on, he declared
both his first and second marriage to have been illegal, as he had
been pre-contracted and this lady had died before the third marriage.
He claimed to be legitimate, which he possibly/probably was; and as
such claimed the title of Duke of Northumberland. When this was denied him,
he went to live in Italy and the Emperor created him Duke of Northumberland.
His second wife, left behind in England, was created for life Duchess of
Dudley.

Sir Robert Dudley, Duke of Northumberland,
born 1574, died 6 September 1649 Villa Castello
married (1)
Margaret Cavendish
married (2) circa 1596
Alice Leigh, Duchess of Dudley, daughter of Sir Thomas Leigh,
1st Baronet, and Katherine Spencer
married (3)
Elizabeth Southwell, daughter of Sir Robert Southwell, and Lady
Elizabeth Howard
children :
(2nd marriage)
1.Alice Douglas Dudley
born 1601, died May 1621

2.Catherine Dudley
married Sir Richard Leveson

3.Frances Dudley
married Sir Gilbert Kniveton, of Bradley

4.Anne Dudley
married Sir Richard Holbourne

(3rd Marriage)
5.Maria Dudley
born 1609

6.Cosimo Dudley
born July 1610

7.Anna Dudley

8.Carlo Dudley

child :
a.Maria Cristina Dudley

child:
1.Adelaide Paleotti
died 29 HJune 1726, buried Albrighton
married (1)
NN Roffeni
married (2) 9 September 1705 Augsburg, Bavaria
Charles Talbot, 12th Earl & Duke of Shrewsbury
son of Francis Talbot, 11th Earl of Shrewsbury, Earl of Waterford,
and Lady Anna Maria Brudenell
born 24 July 1660, died 1 February 1718 Warwick House, Charing Cross
mistress of George I, King of Great Britain and Ireland

10.Giovanni Dudley

11.Antonio Dudley

12.Teresa Dudley

I hope this helps and that some people can flesh out some lines.

This may be as much legend as it is "fact," but it is an interesting story.
Supposedly, Robert Dudley's son William came to the U.S. and gave us
Connecticut residents a charming place called "Dudleytown" (a.k.a.
Owlsbury). D-town is presently deserted (located in the woods of Cornwall,
CT), as the land itself fell "victim" to the "Curse of the Dudley's."
