I have been working on my Dudley line from Edward Dudley and Elizabeth Pritchard. Seems to be a real dead end and all the "pedigrees" have no credible sources, in my opinion. So, I find myself here on this list asking a few questions and giving some possible leads I have found for both the Dudley and Pritchard line.
With out further ado:
Edward Dudley:

Dudley Of Coventry, 1536.
*The Will of John Dudley of Coventry, 1536: [Page 91-91]
John Dudley of the city of Coventry, draper, will dated 20th August, 1533, and proved in 1536. To be buried in St. Michael's Church, Coventry. Mentions Rycharde Dudley my sonne, Joauc my wyffe, Thomas my sonne. The wife and son Thomas to be executors, and Christopher Warren and Thomas Smyth, overseers. Witnessed by William Lathbury, William Peyte (or Peyto), and Henry Westley, "with others." An inventory, found in an unsorted bundle, of " Joan (sic) Dudley of Coventry, lately deceased," and dated 20th January, 1535, probably belongs to the above will. The amount is £33 15s. 8d., and includes a debt owing to Thomas Dudley.

Jhoan Dudley of Coventry, widow. Will dated 1st April, 1544. No date of proof. To be buried in St. Michael's church "by the grave of my husband, John Dudley." Mentions my daughter Joan Dudley, Richard Dudley, his wyffe, Julynes his son," Robert Dudley and his wife Elizabeth, Richard Hawtyn and his wife Ysabell, Richard Smith and his wife Joan, my god-daughter Elizabeth Smith; Agnes Byckley, Cicely Turner, " Joyes Turner my god-daughter," Luce Bowater,* Richard Sewell my godson*. " My sone Thomas Dudley to keepe a yerelie obit for my soule, my husband's sooles, William and Jhon." Executor, son Thomas. Overseers Richard Smyth and Richard Hawten. Inventory made 5th November, 1546, by Richard Smith, vintner, Richard Sewall, grazier (or grozier) and Robert Dudley, draper. Total £59 3s. 5d. [END]
---> Please note that Joan [D. 1544] wife of John Dudley [D.1536] names a Richard Sewell as her godson. This may be a clue as to the heritage of Edward Dudley. Further research is needed as I have a Richard Dudley married to a Mary Seawell, da. of a Richard Seawell.
My Question:
Does anyone have any further information as to this possible connection?

Here is a bit of information that I have in my file that I neglected to note the source for, but if and when I find the source I will of course note it and give full credit to the researcher:
"A Nicholas Dodeley was Mayor of Coventry in 1399 and M.P. for the city in 1401. Dugdale (Ed. Thomas, p. 970) states that in 1395 the manor of Baddenley Clinton, co. Warwick, was passed (in trust) by fine " unto one Nicholas Dudley, a tradesman of Coventry (and Mayor of that city 1 H. IV.), for which Nicholas Duddeley, gave six marks." Thomas Dudley, Esq., was Sheriff of Coventry 1554, Mayor, 1558, and M.P., 1563 (Tb.) The Hurl. MS3., 1563 and 6060 give the arms of
" Thomas Dudley of Coventry " as Azure, a chevron between three lions' heads erased or, being those of the Dudleys of Sedgley and Clapton.

My Question:
WHAT IS THE SOURCE FOR THESE SITED COATS OF ARMS?
***
On to the Elizabeth Pritchard question. I have E.P. as being the daughter of Hester Pritchard, no father given. While looking at my copy of The Visitation of Gloucestershire, 1623, by Chitty and Phillipot, published by The Harleian Soc. Vol XXI 1885, Page 62 - 63 "Freame Pedigree" I find: "Hester [Freame] = Richard Prichett" this Hester being the daughter of Richard Freame who was the mayor of Gloster and Mary da. of Horne of Gloster. I have found while looking in the British Archives, that the Pritchard name is spelled many many ways, one being "Prichett.
My Question:
I have run out of leads or areas to search to discover if this Hester Freame who married a Richard Prichett [Pritchard] may in fact be the one and same. Therefor, might one of you here reading this have a further area I may look to rule her in or out? I can find many sources for the "Freame Family" as they seem to link up to Sir. William Morgan of Pencoyd, through a co-heire who married Thomas Freame of Lypiate in Co. Glos. but there the Pritchard well seems to run dry.

Thank you for your time on these subjects.
