According to ES Neue Folge Band 18 "Zwischen Maas und Rhein", table 56,
the wife of Louis I of Looz (Lodewijk I van Loon), who died 1171, was
Agnes of Metz, heiress of Longwy (died 1180), daughter of Folmar Count of
Metz and Hedwig von Blieskastel.
In this context, I also have a question. Why does all the literature speak
of Looz and not of Loon? The county of Looz (Loon) coincides to a large
extent with the present Belgian province of Limburg.
The only Count of Loon who is familiar in Dutch history is Louis II of
Looz (Lodewijk II van Loon), who in 1203, shortly after the death of Count
Dirk VII of Holland, married the dead count's daughter Ada and claimed the
county of Holland. This led to a succession war, which ended in victory of
the dead count's brother, who became count William I of Holland. This
history is familiar, mainly because countess Ada figures frequently in
crossword puzzles (countess of Holland - three letters).
Louis I of Looz is a direct male descendant of Rodolphe of Looz, son of
Nevelung.

Loon is quit often used in german genealogical litterature, especially
in the period it passed to the house Heisenberg, i.e LOON-HEISENBERG.
