The No Spam address? How does this work? Alterable?

Hello again,

It is my belief that the NoSpam address might be the one people can alter? I
am not familiar with how this all works...obviously anyone can sign up under
any name, but it still should be traceable, by finding the original sign-up
records.

Since Kay, Spencer, and a few others are using it (No Spam) now....tell me,
since you have the same address, excepting the name of sender in parenthesis,
isn't it conceivable that someone could sign up and change that part (the
name)?

I am thinking that someone might have been messing with more than one
person's posts of late.

I know this was done before and there is an online address where this can be
done (TAF exposed it). Perhaps someone likes to keep the pot boiling on
here? I would suggest that you all examine your messages and ask the person
privately if they sent said letter before responding in kind.

It seems you are mixing 2 issues here.

On one hand, SPAMMING is growing for some of us. I don't know if
it is a personal vendetta (I got many spams telling "we send it
only because you requested it" and I never requested it) with someone
entering emails of victims in some spamming engine, or if it is
only a fake (never believe a spammer), but spam has increased
recently. I improved my filters (which mean someone posting from
East Asia will likely never reach me if posting from one of those
Asian spam relays) so I feel less under attack, but without those
filters, spam may reach 10 spams/day. Because of that, some are
using "nospam" address. They do so on purpose and nobody else may
change their address.

OTOH, someone may take the identity of someone else. If you are not
sure about who is who, you may check the header of the message.
If the 2 headers are similar, chances are they are by the same
author. But this can be faked, first by someone using the same
software and the same ISP, second by the same author using 2
different softwares or releases or ISPs.

By the way, some news softwares allow to change email at will.
Check mine :-) I changed all things for this message (including
signature) but all will be reset for the next one.

Report On the Course of Instruction

"Our object is not to teach that which is peculiar to any one of the
professions, but to lay the foundation which is common to them all....
The student must be thrown upon the resources of his own mind.
Without this, the whole apparatus of libraries, and instruments and
specimens, and lectures, and teachers, will be insufficient to secure
distinguished excellence. The scholar must form himself by his own
exertions. The advantages furnished by residence in a college can do
little more than stimulate and aid his personal efforts."

The mailing lists at rootsweb have "accept lists", that is if
you receive email to address a...@a.net but at job you use b...@b.net
and don't want to switch, then the other address can be added.
You can do the same with a nospam address if you contact the
list owner.
