Itta

There was a question on the background of Itta (or Ida/Iduberga as=20
she also appears as) wife of Pippin I. Itta came from a family which had=20
lands around Nivelles and the Carbonarian forest (Charbonniere)=20
[Gerberding=8C, the Rise of the Carolingians and the LHF=8C p121].

After her husband's death, she founded the monastery of Nivelles =8C(near=
=20
Liege in Belgium) with the help of St.Amand, and later that of Fosses nearb=
y=20
for St.Foilan. She is also called St.Ida of Nivelles (not to be confused=20
with St.Ida of Herzfeld, who has been seen by some as a Carolingian).
