Burke's Extinct Baronetcies, that she was the only daughter of Joan Portman

Burke's Landed Gentry, that she was the second daughter of Joan Portman

She married
Edward /Berkeley/ of Pylle, Somerset; esq

He has a will 1669 in which she is yet living
I then found
Philip Berkeley buried at
St Thomas a Becket, Pylle, Somerset

It is said that
Edward /Berkeley/ of Pylle, Somerset; MP; Ho
was her first son

However this is not true

The baptismal register of Pylle, is published at Ancestry

Sorry I meant to say that Philip Speake was buried
Mar 1687
St Thomas a Becket, Pylle, Somerset

This Philip(pa) was evidently named for her aunt, also Philip Speake who m Edward Bridger esq

I had thought until today, that the George Speake died 1637 was the husband of the younger Philip
But in his will dated 1637 he names *over and over ad naseum* the children of his son-in-law Bridger
So clearly this will is for the senior George Speake who was born 1553/1557 "elder son" of

George /Speke/ of Whitelackington, co Som; Knt; MP; Ho
by Elizabeth /Luttrell/
First wife, second husband
