Dear Gail,
I think your question really belongs in gen-medieval.
Yes, you are quite right. The King Maker had a brother George, Archbishop
of York, born in 1433, died 8 June 1478 in Blyth, buried in York Cathedral.
There is a possibility/probability
that he fathered a daughter, Alice, who married Thomas Tunstall and they
had children.
Sources : Hampton, Memorials page 103, and "the Visitation of Yorkshire
1563-64". I have neither, but I quote from "Cahiers de Saint Louis", page
923.
Hope this helps,

Dear Gail,
Sorry to say this, but your question is not very clear.
Whom are you after? George or Matilda? The Earl of Westmorland and Margaret
Stafford (as far as I can see) do not have a daughter Matilda. They have a
daughter Maud who married a Peter Mauley. At present I have not entered all
the Nevills into my computer (I do already have quite a few) but I have not
found any Matildas as yet. Do you have a spouse for Matilda?
Best wishes

But not the husbands----and that is what makes them different. I appreciate
it can be very difficult (I am not being facetious) to ask a clear
question. Gail should have
added that 'her' Matilda married a Mr.Godard and this might have jolted
more people into helping her. To help her I would like to add what she told
me:
Matilda Neville married a Mr. Godard, their daughter Agnes Godard married a
Mr. Stappleton (? not Stapleton?) and they had a daughter Elizabeth
Stappleton who married a Mr. Plumpton. Sadly she didn't give first names to
these males either. I had a look in my collection but cannot find anything
linking these names. Please, if you can, answer

I do not have the wife of John Goddard, mother of Agatha/Agnes
Goddard. If she should be Maud/Matilda Neville, daughter of Ralph Neville
and Margaret Stafford, the connection would be made. In the Complete
Peerage, xii(2), p. 547, n. h, it indicates that Westmorland's 23 children
are listed in Genealogist, N.S., vol. iii, pp. 109-110. We should look
that up to see whether one is a Maud who married John Goddard. Or does
someone know?

Gail Hopkins indicates in an e-mail letter that she is interested in
Agnes Plumpton, dau. of an unnamed Plumpton and Elizabeth Stapleton.

Foster [193] in his pedigree of Plumton, of Plumpton (Yorks), shows:

William Plumpton=Elizabeth Stapleton

‹‹‹‹‹‹‹‹‹‹‹‹‹‹‹‹‹‹‹‹‹‹‹‹‹‹‹‹‹‹‹‹‹
| |
Stephen Hamerton=Isabel Richard Aldborough=Agnes

While we have not found a link between these folk and Ralph Neville,
Earl of Westmorland, Agnes and Isabel Plumpton certainly share a noble
Carolingian ancestry.
