"After the uprising of Michael Palaiologos against the Venetians in Crete in
1262-1265, the warlords George Chortatzis and Michael
Skordilis-Psaromilingos negotiated a peaceful settlement in 1265 with the
Duke of Candia Marco Dandolo".

Who was this Palailogos??

He probably was born around 1235.

Are you serious? It was emperor Michael VIII Palaiologos of course, who
sustained the revolt of some Cretan Greek aristocrats against Venise.

I am serious.

Do you have a reference???

There is nothing mentioned that suggests that he was Michael VIII.

I assumed he was a Cretan. Anyway, the rebels won in this case.
The settlement result in certain areas (villages) being given to the rebels.

Nothing mentionned where? You didn't quote anything. Michael VIII sustained
various rebellions in Crete. I quote Michael VIII's biography by
Geanakoplos, p. 184: "Hardly three years before, in 1262, Michael had in
fact sent an expedition to Crete, which, with the cooperation of the
island's Greek population, had nearly wrested it from Venetian control".
Footnote: "As early as 1262 Michael had sent to Crete a Greek agent named
Stengos who began to arouse the Greek population. After capturing a
fortress, Stengos sought to persuade the Greek of the island to eject their
Venetian masters. Though the Greek population was eager to join Stengos, the
Greek archons (including the famous Alexios Kallerges) demanded additional
aid before granting overt support. After four years of inconclusive
conflict, an agreement was reached in 1265 between the Greeks and Venetians
of the island."

Only against the recognition of Venetian power.
